How much will it cost to remodel my kitchen?

The investment necessary to remodel your kitchen hinges on factors such as size, complexity, material selection and if there are structural considerations. Setting aside the installation expenditure, cabinetry is the primary expense, with appliances and countertops following close behind. Typical cost average for materials via The Material Difference, Inc. (TMD) with installation by our sister company Harrison Construction, Inc. (HCI) for a complete turn-key kitchen project ranges from $40-65,000. Remember, this is a range and guideline. It is our mission to bring your project in on your budget.

Will I be without my kitchen for weeks?

Yes, but no. While visions of dining out every night during the project may arise, the need seldom exists. Your refrigerator, range, microwave and sink will become "mobile" during the process, in some cases relocating to adjacent rooms. While we don't suggest hosting dinner parties until we're finished, you will be able to prepare meals and clean-up throughout the process. We recognize the inconvenience associated with remodeling and will make every effort to minimize out presence in your family's routine.

How much will it cost to remodel my bathroom?

Typical cost average for a complete turn-key full hall bath remodel ranges from $21-26,000. Numbers include materials via The Material Difference, Inc. (TMD) showroom with installation by our sister company Harrison Construction, Inc. (HCI). For typical master baths/suites; that range falls between $35-44,000. Again, costs depend on size, design and complexity of material selection. HCI costs-out the "sticks, bricks and labor" element of the job while TMD specifies and shops the fixtures with you, seamlessly bringing the project in at your budget.

What if I only have one bathroom in the house?

It’s always a bit of a challenge to remodel the lone bathroom in the house. Don’t worry we will get through it together. Though you may love to take a shower you will likely have to resort to a bath for a couple of days. You will want to use the kitchen sink for your routine hand washing and teeth brushing. And ladies you will need to find another spot in the house to apply your makeup. Fortunately the toilet will be reset at the end of each day for your nightly use.

How long does it take for a typical kitchen or bath remodel?

Kitchens can take 4-7 weeks from start to finish, bathrooms, typically 3-5 weeks. More involved projects such as a kitchen remodel with an addition can take 2-3 months. When we provide a proposal on a project we are able to estimate the time based on the scope of the project. Once started, your project moves forward seamlessly, none of the typical contractor starting the job then disappearing for weeks at a time.

How much of a mess will there be?

As a general rule, the bigger the project the bigger the mess associated with. While we can't speak for other contractors, HCI works to eliminate dust from traveling throughout your entire house by enclosing the construction area with plastic and dust doors. The job foreman will also make sure his crew is careful when removing debris and bringing in new products. Drop cloths are used from point of entry into your home thru to the room being remodeled. At the end of each day the HCI crew will also clean up the area.

Do you do free estimates?

Anything of value is rarely free. TMD takes the time to design the space to your satisfaction, guides you through material selections and then provides an itemized list of costs for the materials in your project. Next, we forward the approved design layout and quoted material list to HCI. HCI is then able to provide a specified, written contract with an exact dollar amount to take care of all facets of your project from the initial tear out to the final coat of paint. To arrive at the total cost involved to complete your project simply add the TMD materials quote to the HCI contract amount. Remember to compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges. Flat fee costs for design of kitchens and bathrooms within their existing confines is $100-200. Exceptions exist, so please contact the showroom to discuss your specific needs.

Do you do small projects?

Yes. For instance, if a faucet or toilet change-out is all you need then don’t hesitate to stop by the showroom to order the item. Installation can be provided by HCI, or if you would like to take the task on yourself the choice is yours. Replacing kitchen counters and cabinet hardware is one of the more common updates that can be done.

What type of lead times should I plan for?

We offer custom and semi-custom factory made cabinetry with lifetime warranties. With these cabinet lines you choose the door style, species and finish. So while you ultimately get exactly what you want it does equate to an 8-10 week lead time from submission of the order. Cabinetry typically has the longest lead. General lead times for other items we carry: shower doors and cultured marble items 3-4 weeks, tubs and toilets 1-3 weeks, faucets 1-4 weeks, tile 3-4 weeks, cabinet hardware 1-2 weeks, and countertops vary due to different materials. We like to have most of the materials in our warehouse before starting your job.
